A Lotus Flower and You
We need to be honest here, when we were looking for inspiration for our logo, the three of us agreed that the lotus flower was too ubiquitous a symbol. It’s everywhere, from personal tattoo art to the spiritual representation of Nirvanacomplete enlightenment. So what is going on with this sacred mysterious flower that has enraptured us with its significance?
There is a reason why in the Buddhist and Egyption cultures, the lotus represents the universe and signifies rebirth and creation. In Hindu culture, the gods and goddesses sat on lotus thrones and there is a myth that the Buddha’s first footprints were in the shape of lotus petals. But here is why we find the lotus flower so fascinating and what we believe it represents. The lotus flower has an amazing will to thrive -just like you.
The seed itself lies in the murky dark mud of mucky river water. Only with the correct water temperatures and perfect rays of sunlight can the lotus seed be cultivated into the colorful bloom we see on the water’s surface. Without the right cultivation, that lotus seed can remain dormant for hundreds of years – never accepting defeat, waiting for the right nourishment to thrive. Once germinated, it begins its life as a bud underwater with its roots based in the mud. This resiliently undeterred flower slowly makes its way through the cloudy water and miraculously blooms in the morning light, pure and clean from the dirty environment it came. When evening comes, the lotus closes up its petals and retreats into the sanctuary and safety of the muck, only to bloom again in the morning light-it’s beauty unaffected.
Sometimes our lives can resemble the dark mucky mud of the river. With its challenges to face, obstacles to defeat, and struggles to overcome. But with the right conditions, the right cultivation, the right nourishment…we thrive… and become a lotus bud of hope. One that will brave the conditions of lifeonly to emerge unscathed by the dark mucky mud of the river. Instilled with that hope, we are submerged daily into the cloudiness of life, only to resurrect again, more resilient than the time before.
Why do we love the symbolism of the lotus flower? It is completely original, it has an amazing will to THRIVE and a life cycle unsurpassed by any other-just like you.
